dc.sage - Membership Information and Application

dc.sage is an organization for computer systems administrators (and related preoccupations: network administrators, computer security professionals) in and around the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. dc.sage welcomes any and all members of the technical community and computer afficionados to join the organization. In the past, the only requirement for becoming a member of dc.sage was to know where the Capitol of the United States was, and to be able to subscribe to the mailing list. Members have access to online resources, including mailing lists and web pages that contain names and E-mail addressed of other members. In the recent past, members of the technical recruiting industry have abused that access and spammed our membership. Consequently, prospective members are required to provide this information before receiving access to those resources. Our intention is not to exclude anyone who has a genuine interest in learning and sharing with others about computer systems administration and related areas of interest. Our intention is to avoid misunderstandings by the individuals who would use the contact information of dc.sage members for unsolicited and/or undesired commercial contacts (including and/or especially job recruiting). Again, please be sure that you understand and will comply with our privacy policy before you apply for membership.

Submission of this form constitutes an application for membership in dc.sage. Do not submit this form until you have reviewed the dc.sage Privacy Policy. Submission of this form constitutes an agreement to abide by that policy with respect to all dc.sage information services and data, including any data on the web pages, or transmitted via the mailing lists.

dc.sage membership benefits include participation in all sorts of weird computer-person type activities that happen spontaneously around the region. We also have technical talks and social events within the D.C. Metropolitan area. dc.sage is affiliated with SAGE (the Systems Administrator's Guild - a special technical group of the USENIX Association) ... but operates as an independent entity. USENIX/SAGE membership is encouraged for professional systems administrators, but it is not a requirement for membership in dc.sage. Currently, membership is free.

You must fill in this application form in order to be considered for membership in dc.sage. Accepted members of dc.sage will be subscribed to the dc-sage-announce mailing list, and will be assigned a Web ID and Password for accessing the web pages. Your responses to this form will be kept confidential. There are check boxes next to each piece of data that could become part of a web-based member directory, if it ever is created. Be sure that you do not check these boxes if you wish to lurk on the lists and not be included in the directory. Any information can be updated later (except your web ID). Required information is marked with a red required. False, misleading, or inaccurate information may be grounds for immediate expulsion from dc.sage.

dc.sage reserves the right to deny membership to anyone, at the discretion of the systems administrators.
