dc.sage Technical and Professional List

dc.sage is an organization of, by and for computer systems administrators in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

This mailing list is for general discussion of technical and professional subjects, especially in the context of systems administration.

We're not going to try to enumerate topics that are on-topic or off-topic here. Be aware of your audience, which is mostly computer professionals at different points in their careers. Let's try to keep it civilized.

Occasional posting of job opportunities is appropriate, but this is not a jobs list for technical recruiters to spew lists of open positions. In the past, dc.sage banned recruiters from subscribing to our lists due to egregious abuses. While on that subject ... joining the list for the purpose of farming addresses for solicitation of anything is inappropriate and you will be subject to expulsion, ridicule, shame or worse.

Questions about computers, software, networks, security, the profession, the Internet, are appropriate and welcome. Usually someone on the list might have an answer. It is recommended that you do a bit of basic research (Google, maybe skim the recent archives) before asking a question.

Discussions about stuff that falls way outside the range of the above should be addressed to the dc-sage-chat list.

Posting to the list is restricted to list members and other members of dc.sage. Access to the archives of the list and the membership list are restricted to members of the list.

If you have questions about or need assistance with the list, send an email to mladmin .AT. dc-sage.org.
